The Caribbean Maya is a region with pristine jungle where the traveler enjoys an unforgettable experience full of culture, archeology, flora, fauna, beach and sun.
In this environment we will learn about the Mayan cosmovision, a civilization that has become a Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 1979.
While traveling through these three countries of the Central American Caribbean, we will enjoy different cultures and cuisine full of exotic flavors. These are flavors that will remain in your palates for a long time.
In addition to the cuisine, this complete tour offers to visit Mayan ruins and the Spaniard colonial cities while traveling and enjoying exotic jungle, majestic rivers and the beautiful sea.
Guatemala, Honduras and Belize offer to those who visit a once and a lifetime experience!
WHAT TO BRING:
Comfortable attire, walking shoes, hat and sunglasses.
Day 1: San Pedro Sula Airport, Honduras
You will be welcomed at San Pedro Sula International Airport, and will be transported in an air-conditioned bus to the City of Copán. Accommodations at hotel “Copán.” Among the gests that stayed at the hotel include Queen Sofia of Spain and Richard Gere. The hotel is located 10 minutes from the Maya Ruins.
There will be welcoming refreshments and dinner upon arrival, time off to relax, after dinner.
Day 2: Copan, Honduras
7:00 am Breakfast at the hotel.
8:00 am Visit to the Copán ruins were you will see the largest collection of Kings, Queens and Serpent monoliths, Steles and Priestly Caves. You will be able to explore the tunnels, burial grounds of the royalty. At the park you will be able to watch all kinds of Macaws and yellow Parrots.
10:00 am Board the bus that will take you to the Paleontological Museum of Estanzuela, Zacapa.
At this museum you will be able to examine several Maya Kings burial places and the pre-historical skeletons of pre-Columbian animals.
12:00 Noon Lunch at “El Mesón Español” there you will enjoy your first truly Guatemalan meal.
1:00 pm Leave to Quirigua Site
2:00 p.m. Arrive at the Quirigua were you will see the largest Steles and Zoomorphic Maya figurines.
4:00 pm Leave to Puerto Barrios
5:30 pm Arrive at Puerto Barrios. You will board a Water Taxi and sail to Livingston, the most beautiful fishing village in the Guatemala Caribbean. CNN Spanish acclaimed it as the only place to be “al suave” (at ease.)
6:00 pm Arrive at Posada El Delfin in Livingston, Izabal were you will be accommodated for the night. Posada El Delfin is the only hotel certified by “Green Deal” WWF in Livingston, and Tui, the German organization for the protection of dolphins.
6:30 pm Diner at the hotel. After diner time off to explore the village.
Day 3: Belize Key
7:30 am Breakfast at the hotel.
8:30 am Board the boat that will take you to the Belize lower keys. There you will be able to snorkel, swim, or just relax at the sugar sand beach. Water is tepid underneath the reefs. Our chef will prepare a seafood lunch while you enjoy the sun.
2:30 pm Board the boat back to Livingston.
4:00 pm Arrive at the hotel for an afternoon of leisure time at the pool or the hotel hammocks.
6:30 pm Diner at one of Livingston’s renowned restaurants, “Margot”
After diner you will be entertain by a Show of Garifuna dance and music
Day 4: Rio Dulce, Guatemala
8:00 am Breakfast at the hotel.
9:00 am Board a boat to tour the Rio Dulce Canyon, one of the Guatemala’s natural wonders. In the 1700s this river was sailed by Pirates and Corsairs the likes of William Parker, Diego—wooden leg—“El Mulato,” Anthony Shirley “the Adventurer,” Juan Tatin “the Spaniard,” and William Jackson from time to time. You will visit the hanging gardens, the Pioneer’s Wall, Tatin Creek, the Hot Water Spring, and the Lake of the Lilies. During your upriver boat ride you will be able to watch the local fishermen at their craft. At the source of the river you will visit the San Felipe Fortress; A Spanish fort set to guard the gold going to Spain, from Pirates’ looting.
1:00 pm Lunch at Bruno’s marina in Fronteras, Río Dulce.
2:00 pm Board the bus that will take you to the Tikal ruins.
7:00 pm Arrive at Tikal National Park. You will be accommodated at the Jaguar Inn, a hotel that stands inside the Park.
7:30 pm Diner at the hotel
Day 5: Tikal, Guatemala
5:00 a.m. Sunrise hike, you will escalate the highest temple for a 15-minute silence and meditation epiphany. You will participate in the exhilarating experience of sunrise over the canopy of the jungle. You will hear the howling monkeys, and listen to sunrise birdcalls. After sunrise you will take a three-hour tour in the park ending at the Maya Acropolis facing the Great Jaguar temple.
9:00 a.m. back to the hotel for a delicious breakfast
10:30 a.m. back to the park for a visit to the temples, ruins, steles and sacred burial grounds.
1:30 p.m. Lunch at the hotel
2:30 p.m. Leisure time, or time off to explore the rest of Tikal at your own pace
4:30 p.m. Depart to Santa Elena island
5:30 pm arrive at Santa Elena dinner at the hotel La Casona Del Lago en la Isla de Flores
Day 6: Flores, Guatemala
8:00 am breakfast
9:00 am walking on coble stone paved streets, and view the Spanish Arquitecture colorful homes, surrounded by the lake.
10:00 a.m. Depart from the Island back to Rio Dulce
12:30 pm lunch en route
1:30 pm continue the trip en route to Antigua Guatemala
7:30 pm arrive at Antigua
8:00 pm dinner at the Hotel
Day 7: Antigua, Guatemala
07:30 am breakfast
08:30 am day at to tour this jewel of Central America UNESCO heritage of humanity
12:00 pm lunch at a loco restaurant
01:00 pm free afternoon
6:30 pm Dinner at the hotel, rest of the evening free.
Day 8: Guatemala city International Airport
