ON THIS TOUR YOU WILL:
Journey to the colonial capital of Antigua Guatemala at 5,500 feet above sea level via a scenic 90-minute, narrated drive-through Guatemalan’s lowlands. While in route, sample exotic fruits to sweeten your journey.
Keep an eye out for magnificent views of volcanoes, cattle and sugar cane plantations. At 5,000 feet above sea level, we will discover Antigua, the colonial jewel of the Americas! Enter Antigua through the village of Jocotenango and enjoy the Owls Marquette and La Merced Church built in the 170´s.
Once in Antigua, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you will visit Central Park and enter the Cathedral de Santiago when open. Walk 4 blocks to the Jade Museum & Factory where fine jadeite jade is transformed into works of art (jadeite jade is found mainly in Guatemala and Burma). On your way to the factory, enjoy the Spaniard architecture of homes build 500 years ago.
Afterwards, you will have free time to explore on your own is desired to visit the surrounding buildings like Casa Santo Domingo; a convent converted into a hotel. Later enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, and after lunch, you will board your AC transportation to return to the ship.
